Q: Do I have to be a TAA member to attend?

No, you do not have to be a member. TAA annual conferences are open to members and non-members. Non-member registration includes a one-year membership in TAA. Members receive a discount on registration.

Q: What do registration fees include?

Two-day registration includes all workshops and sessions, the Welcome Networking Breakfast on Friday, continental breakfast on Saturday, and the Awards Ceremony Luncheon on Saturday.

One-day registration includes all workshops, sessions and events held that day.

Q: Are there any incentives for registering early?

Yes. The first 30 conference registrants will receive a copy of Step-by-Step: Building a Research Paper, and Internet Surf & Turf Revealed: The Essential Guide to Copyright, Fair Use, and Finding Media.

Register before April 1, 2012 and receive $50 off your conference registration. Registration will increase $50 in all categories after April 1.

Q: Can I register for just one day?

Yes. The one-day rate for TAA members is $75 ($105 for non-members).

Q: How do I know if I’m registered?

All attendees will receive an email confirmation, if an email is provided, or mail confirmation if no email address is provided. This confirmation/receipt verifies your contact information and how much you have paid. Attendees that register online are urged to print the receipt copy of their registration to keep for their records. If you do not receive an email or mail confirmation, please contact TAA headquarters at TextandAcademicAuthors@taaonline.net or (727) 563-0020.

Q: Where do I pick up my registration materials?

Attendees can pick up their registration materials at the Registration Desk starting Friday morning. See the conference schedule for details.

Q: Can I bring a guest to the Awards Ceremony Luncheon?

Yes. You can purchase a guest luncheon ticket when you register for the conference. A guest luncheon ticket is $35.

Yes. Please indicate on your registration form if you prefer a vegetarian or kosher meal.

Q: Do TAA conference registrants receive a special room rate at the Royal Sonesta Hotel?

Yes. TAA conference registrants receive the special rate of $139. Please be sure to identify yourself as a registrant of the 2012 TAA Conference when calling. The deadline for reserving a room at the special room rate is Wednesday, May 9, 2012.

Q: What networking opportunities are available at the conference?

The TAA conference features the following networking opportunities:

Q: How do I sign up to meet with a mentor?

Information about signing up to meet with a mentor will be posted on the TAA conference website in March 2012 under Announcements. Attendees will also receive an email inviting them to pre-register for mentoring sessions. On-site mentoring will be informal and at the convenience of mentors.

Q: What are Roundtable Discussions?

Roundtable Discussions are small-group moderated discussions on specific topics. All Roundtable Discussions are held during the same time in the same meeting room. Space at a particular roundtable is first-come, first-served. A sign-up board will be posted in the conference registration area starting Friday morning. A small place card will be placed at your seat to indicate your reservation.

Q: What are my ground transportation options from the airport to hotel?

Taxi: Taxi Cabs are available at the New Orleans International Airport on the lower level outside of Baggage Claim. Rates are $33.00 for one person and $14.00 per person for three or more passengers. There may be additional charges for extra baggage.

Airport Shuttle: Convenient Airport Transportation Provided By Airport Shuttle $20 one way and $38 round trip per person (by reservation).

Q: If I plan to drive, what are the directions to the hotel?

Directions to the Royal Sonesta Hotel on I-10 East

Traveling from the Airport on I-10 East follow the signs to the New Orleans Business District and continue to follow 1-10 East toward Slidell.

The Hotel may be reached from I-10 East by exiting on the Orleans Avenue/Vieux Carre exit.

Orleans Avenue becomes Basin Street as it curves toward the French Quarter.

Make a left turn from Basin Street onto Conti Street

Follow Conti Street into the French Quarter. The entrance to the hotel's garage is located on the right immediately after crossing Bourbon Street.

Directions to the Royal Sonesta Hotel on I-10 West

The Hotel may be reached from I-10 West by exiting on the Orleans Avenue/Vieux Carre exit and turning left.

Orleans Avenue becomes Basin Street as it curves toward the French Quarter.

PJ’s Coffee Café. Located in the Royal Sonest Hotel lobby, and offering coffee, tea, freshly baked pastries, paninis and soup. Open daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. (10 p.m. on Thurs., Fri., and Sat.)

Le Booze. Cigars and snacks available. Open Monday - Thursday, 4:00 p.m. - 'til. Friday - Sunday, 12:00 p.m. - 'til.
